Anixter Village
Anixter Village is a pioneering, first-in-the-US apartment building designed to make the dream of independent living a reality for people with Spina Bifida and other chronic disabilities. Located in Chicago's Illinois Medical District, Anixter Village provides residents with a place to call "home"
that is affordable, accessible, and enhances their ability to live independently.
Currently, SBAIL is working with a team of residents and public and private partner organizations on "The Greening of Anixter," an enabled garden and farmer's market on the 27,000 + square feet of open land at Anixter Village.
The project is designed to improve participants' health and wellness, teach vocational skills, create new social bonds, and beautify the neighborhood.
