Tim's Bio

My name is Tim Burkhart and I was born in Fort Sill Oklahoma in  1971.  My family moved to Phoenix, Arizona shortly thereafter where I spent my youth in the desert sun.  I grew up with a love of aviation and was fortunate to turn it into a career.  I have worked for three airlines in various capacities and I am now employed as an airline dispatcher.  My love of aviation also led me to the love of my life where I met a beautiful girl named Janel from Kalamazoo, Michigan (yes, there really is a Kalamazoo!).  I convinced her to move to the other side of Lake Michigan where we began three long years of  building our house in West Chicago.  We've been blessed with two  incredible girls, Summer now 4 years old and Jillian age 2.  I began  riding a bicycle last year after the grim discovery that my waistline had grown larger than my age.  I am pleased that my enjoyment of riding the trails of Illinois is allowing me the opportunity to raise money for a great organization, The Illinois Spina Bifida Association of Illinois.  It is also a personal matter for me and my family because our daughter Summer was born with Spina Bifida and the Association continues to be a tremendous help to my family.
