Scholarship Program
Every year, SBAIL awards scholarships to students in post-secondary education. All the students awarded scholarships are Illinois residents with Spina Bifida.

Patrick Juris of New Lenox, IL, is a senior at the University of Illinois at Chicago and is majoring in sociology. He plans to continue his education towards a career as an occupational therapist. At UIC, he serves as the Vice President of the Sociology Club and is currently working with a member of the sociology department on a research project involving Chicagoland farmer's markets. Patrick says that SBAIL has helped him get where he is today and has been helpful in fostering his social and academic growth by helping him forge friendships with others with Spina Bifida through his attendance at SBAIL events. Receiving a scholarship has helped him continue to work towards his goals. |

Jennifer Bradtke grew up and currently lives in Bloomington, IL. She is a sophomore at Illinois State University, majoring in Special Education, Learning and Behavior. She wants to teach Special Education in Early Childhood Education and looks forward to reaching that goal each and every day. She loves to hang out with friends, go for walks, and travel. She wants to thank SBAIL for being such a great resource throughout her life. |

Elizabeth Conroy of Geneva, IL, is working on her Masters of Speech and Language degree from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, IA. Elizabeth completed her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and looks forward to furthering her education. She aspires to become a Speech and Language Pathologist. For Elizabeth, SBAIL is beneficial because they encouraged her and helped her follow and achieve her dreams. SBAIL's scholarships have made it possible for her to receive her Bachelor's Degree and pursue her Master's Degree. |
Bridget Evans University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign |
Bridget Evans of Orland Park, IL, is a senior at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is majoring in Community Health and concentrating in Health Planning and Administration. This summer, she interned at a hospital in downtown Chicago and it further solidified her desire to work in hospital administration to help provide people with equally good--if not better--hospital experiences than she's had. Bridget also volunteers with the Mid-America Service Dog Foundation and has trained over 15 dogs for other people with disabilities. For her, SBAIL is a source of comfort. Bridget is comfortable persuing her dreams knowing that support is nearby if she should need it. |
