Scholarship Program
Every year, SBAIL awards scholarships to students in post-secondary education. All the students awarded scholarships are Illinois residents with Spina Bifida.

Kendall Gretsch is a freshman in college at Washington University in St. Louis from Downers Grove, IL. She is majoring in biomedical engineering and hopes to become a biomedical engineer in the future. For Kendall, SBAIL is a much-appreciated source of support and information that is now helping finance her college education. |

Nilsen Bradley University |
Jenny Nilsen from Lake Zurich, IL, is a senior Psychology major and Sociology minor at Bradley University, where she has been a Resident Advisor (RA) for three years. After graduating from Bradley University, she will continue her education in graduate school to pursue a career in Marriage and Family Therapy. The Spina Bifida Association of Illinois has made it possible for Jenny to pursue a quality education in order to follow her dream of becoming a Marriage and Family Therapist. |

Scott Nyquist is a senior at Elmhurt College from Prospect Heights, IL. He is majoring in Special Education and minoring in history and hopes to one day become a special education teacher. He has experience student teaching at the Elmhurst Life Skills Academy and is able to give his professors and fellow students a firsthand education about Spina Bifida. Scott is also a member of the Council for Exceptional Children and Amnesty International. To him, SBAIL is an association that has provided him with a tremendous amount of support over the past four years. |

Solorio South Suburban College |
Guadalupe Solorio is a freshman in college from Hazel Crest, IL. She will be starting her college career close to home at South Suburban College for medical reasons, but plans to transfer to a university after receiving her third kidney transplant. Guadalupe aspires to become an elementary school teacher. To her, SBAIL is an association that helps many people with Spina Bifida by working together to accomplish great things. |
